Making mazes with AI: DeepAI

Welcome to the 8th in a series of posts where I will test AI image generators and see how they handle making maze art. I will be asking 10 prompts and seeing what gets generated. My goal is to evaluate different AI image sites against each other to see how they perform. If you need to catch-up here is the series so far:

Making Maze Art with DeepAI

Today I test out DeepAI. You can access the website here. You can start generating images with prompts without signing in. Each prompt, or generation will generate 1 images. There are 12 styles to choose from (for free - 26 in total). All prompts I use are the same for each site !

Prompt 1 - Make a medium difficulty maze of the Eiffel Tower in black and white with arrows at the start and finish

I was confused at first. Did I get 4 images or 1. I guess this is one.

Prompt 2 - Draw a medium difficulty large maze of the Empire State Building with the start and goal embedded in the structure

Not a maze. It looks like the bottom and middle section of the ESB. Why no complete building ? Not sure.

Prompt 3 - Draw a difficult maze of the White House pixel art style

No.

Prompt 4 - Draw a difficult maze that looks like a drawing of a famous building in sketch style

What famous building is this supposed to be ?

Prompt 5 - Draw a maze in the style of doyoumaze.com of a skyscraper in NYC

Almost cool, or kind of cool.

Prompt 6 - Draw a maze in the style of Sean C Jackson of a scene from a large outdoor market

This looks very interesting but misses the mark of what was asked for.

Prompt 7 - Make a maze of a slice of an orange in color

Hmmm.

Prompt 8 - Make a maze integrated on top of a photograph of a king sitting on his throne looking cantankerous beside his beautiful queen

Cantankerous looking guy in a charcoal jacket in an almost passport photo!! No queen. Fun circular labyrinth.

Prompt 9 - Make a solvable maze that is very large and very difficult to solve because it is so complex

Weird border on the right side. I wonder what made the AI put this image off center ?

Prompt 10 - Make a 3d render of a red and blue glossy cube maze

This is a big miss for me. Where is the cube ?

How did DeepAI do ? A few hits with the black and white versions. Not so good with mazes. I was generally completely unimpressed. Needs work.

Welcome to the 7th in a series of posts where I will test AI image generators and see how they handle making maze art. I will be asking 10 prompts and seeing what gets generated. Making Maze Art with StarryAI

Today I test out StarryAI. You can access the website here. You must sign in to use the site and you receive 5 credits (and it seems 5 credits each day). Each prompt, or generation will generate 4 images and cost a credit (If you want 8 variations that will cost you 3 credits). There are 6 styles to choose from: No style, Fantasy, Portrait, 3D Art, Wooltize and Anime. You may also upload a photo to give the AI “something to start with”. All prompts I use are the same for each site !

Prompt 1 - Make a medium difficulty maze of the Eiffel Tower in black and white with arrows at the start and finish

I thought all 4 generations where interesting (normally there are some really bad ones). And I struggled picking between 2 of them. This one was a bit more interesting because the the perspective from above.

Prompt 2 - Draw a medium difficulty large maze of the Empire State Building with the start and goal embedded in the structure

Not really a maze, but it looks mazelike. 3 of the 4 images were really interesting and similar to this one. Made it hard to choose once again !

Prompt 3 - Draw a difficult maze of the White House pixel art style

All 4 images generated were different and none was close to what I was looking for. They did have a videogame like quality to them at least.

Prompt 4 - Draw a difficult maze that looks like a drawing of a famous building in sketch style

I liked all 4 images, I do not know what is ahead AI site-wise, but StarryAI is consistent in above average quality.

Prompt 5 - Draw a maze in the style of doyoumaze.com of a skyscraper in NYC

All 4 had this perspective looking up the side of the skyscraper. This one included a maze.

Prompt 6 - Draw a maze in the style of Sean C Jackson of a scene from a large outdoor market

It is a large outdoor market where they sell long white pathways ?

Prompt 7 - Make a maze of a slice of an orange in color

This is the first interpretation where the AI generated a maze like structure in the actual orange itself.

Prompt 8 - Make a maze integrated on top of a photograph of a king sitting on his throne looking cantankerous beside his beautiful queen

i must mention that 2 of the options included a queen, but I picked this one because the top of the chair has eyes, that king is dressed like Bond, James Bond with a fun look on his face, and the maze looks like brains. Just a lot to take in !

Prompt 9 - Make a solvable maze that is very large and very difficult to solve because it is so complex

All 4 were different and interesting. This is a solvable maze with many options if only we could read the sections on top and bottom.

Prompt 10 - Make a 3d render of a red and blue glossy cube maze

Here are 2 of the 4 generated. I like the one on the left a lot.

How did StarryAI do ? Consistent. I think there is a lot of potential here. I would mention again that I found it difficult to choose the best image multiple times. Easy to use. I recommend this site.

Making Maze Art with Nightcafe

Today I test out Nightcafe. You can access the website here. You get 5 free daily credits to create with. Each prompt, or generation will generate only 1 image. Without getting into all the details there are a lot of options and styles to explore. You should check it out. All prompts I use are the same for each site !

Prompt 1 - Make a medium difficulty maze of the Eiffel Tower in black and white with arrows at the start and finish

I have never seen this version of the Eiffel Tower before. It is a tower under the tower.

Prompt 2 - Draw a medium difficulty large maze of the Empire State Building with the start and goal embedded in the structure

No maze, but a cool rendering of NYC.

Prompt 3 - Draw a difficult maze of the White House pixel art style

When I look at this it feels like a map of a world in a Super Mario Bros game.

Prompt 4 - Draw a difficult maze that looks like a drawing of a famous building in sketch style

I feel like David Bowie is in this castle surrounded by cool Jim Henson puppets.

Prompt 5 - Draw a maze in the style of doyoumaze.com of a skyscraper in NYC

I like the maze drawn on the 3D maze walls. Very interesting. At first I missed it and thought it was texture.

Prompt 6 - Draw a maze in the style of Sean C Jackson of a scene from a large outdoor market

Cool. The image looks like it is of a park in a far, far away galaxy. Very interesting. Maybe a water maze, a maze plaza and a maze of buildings ?

Prompt 7 - Make a maze of a slice of an orange in color

Huh.

Huh.

Huh.

Prompt 8 - Make a maze integrated on top of a photograph of a king sitting on his throne looking cantankerous beside his beautiful queen

Fun, regal. Where is the queen ? And the king’s face.

Prompt 9 - Make a solvable maze that is very large and very difficult to solve because it is so complex

That would be fun to get lost in. Cool tower. Nice valley surrounded by mountains.

Prompt 10 - Make a 3d render of a red and blue glossy cube maze

I did 4 options again. Not a fan.

How did Nightcafe do ? A mixed bag from me. I like the fantasy aspect of some of the images generated. It does a very good job with fantasy.

Making Maze Art with Dream by Wombo

Today I test out Dream by Wombo. You can access the website here. You can try the site for free without signing in, just click start creating. Each prompt, or generation will generate only 1 image, with a premium option generating 4 images. Since there is only 1 image generated I did not need to pick the best one (other generators typically give 4 options). All prompts I use are the same for each site !

Prompt 1 - Make a medium difficulty maze of the Eiffel Tower in black and white with arrows at the start and finish

Beautiful photo looking image in black and white. I like the textures but I don’t see a maze anywhere.

Prompt 2 - Draw a medium difficulty large maze of the Empire State Building with the start and goal embedded in the structure

They made up the skyline around the ESB, but it still feels like NYC. No maze again.

Prompt 3 - Draw a difficult maze of the White House pixel art style

If I was on drugs right now and I am not, that would be dope. Pun intended.

Prompt 4 - Draw a difficult maze that looks like a drawing of a famous building in sketch style

Wow. That is sweet. No famous building, but nice.

Prompt 5 - Draw a maze in the style of doyoumaze.com of a skyscraper in NYC

Is this the closest yet ? Not actually a maze but I like the mixed media aspect. Maybe I use that for a future maze ?

Prompt 6 - Draw a maze in the style of Sean C Jackson of a scene from a large outdoor market

Great colorful painting of a fruit stand.

Prompt 7 - Make a maze of a slice of an orange in color

Wacky. Fun. Not a maze.

Prompt 8 - Make a maze integrated on top of a photograph of a king sitting on his throne looking cantankerous beside his beautiful queen

Is this the most interesting man in the world ? I like the double maze - sitting in a maze with a maze background. And the queen must be where ?

Prompt 9 - Make a solvable maze that is very large and very difficult to solve because it is so complex

A 3D maze at an angle. I might make a maze with this style. Really cool looking.

Prompt 10 - Make a 3d render of a red and blue glossy cube maze

Fun and cool looking. This prompt is usually pretty good.

How did Dream by Wombo do ? I wish I had premium and had 4 images to choose from. The single image we got is good. The site is very photo like and I enjoyed the outputs.
