thread city crossing maze
Located in Willimantic, Connecticut this maze features one of the 4 bronze statues on the bridge crossing. Why a bullfrog and a spool of thread ? Read the story here. The bridge features four 11 foot high statues of frogs sitting on a spool - one on each corner of the bridge. The frog signifies a bullfrog battle for territory in the 1750’s (even I couldn’t make that story up) and the thread spool is a tribute to the longtime largest company in town, Willimantic Cotton Mill Company which closed in 1985.
You might think this is my only maze of a decorative bridge statue, but it is not. The Hope Bridge in Cleveland, Ohio is adorned with the Guardians of Traffic which I made into a maze. And yes the bridge does end next to the baseball stadium which gives the MLB team it’s name, Guardians.

If you want to see the location of the bridge, here is a pin on Google Maps from which where you can also switch to streetview and see the statues !
The Maze: I went with a free hand maze drawn in only the frog portion of the statue. The maze is more complicated than you might think for a whimsical subject.
