Back in 2019 for Star Wars Day I made a maze of Darth Vader to celebrate it. I was doing a new maze each day and I spent some extra time on this one because I am a Star Wars fan. You can find some cool mazes out there on the topic, my favorite being this R2-D2 maze. Well since then I have become more experienced at creating mazes and thought I could improve this maze with a new version. This new version becomes my maze of the week #174.
Here is the initial maze in black and white:

And here are the changes I made to improve it:
1. Colorize it. That meant making the helmet black and the maze walls/outline a different color (I chose grey). I also realized there is some light grey color on the helmet…which I never noticed before !
2. Change Start/Goal. I have found that I prefer a start and goal written out rather than large arrows which can distract from the maze. Also, I could not resist using the Star Wars font to make the words Start and Goal !!
3. Add a Background. Black on black with a nice red Sith glow seemed appropriate !
4. Breathing Details. On the mouth area of the mask I added the details of the pattern to better reflect the mask.
5. Paths widening. I widened by 50% most of the pathways cutting through the walls. This should help anyone solving the maze see the pathways much easier.
Here is the updated Darth Vader maze:

I hope you enjoy the new version of the maze, available for download in the fan art section of the site.
