Maze of the Week #39 - Spaceship Earth - Epcot Center Maze

We travel to Florida and Disney World for Maze of the week #39. This week I feature the Spaceship Earth from Epcot Center. When you think of Epcot Center I am sure this is the building you think of. I love the architecture and thought it would make a great maze. The building opened on October 1, 1982.

Learn more about the Spaceship Earth at Epcot, or check out this vintage video from 1966:

Let’s look at a photo of the building.

The maze: I went with black and white for this maze. The structure of the panels mean the maze portion of the construction is centered on the building. I used a draw and cut construction to make the maze.

Maze of the Week #38 - Hoover Dam Maze

Maze of the week #38 is of the Hoover Dam, on the border of Arizona and Nevada. A feat of engineering, it opened in 1936, ahead of schedule and was dedicated on September 30, 1935. It is the largest reservoir in the US and helped spur the growth of the city of Las Vegas. The dam became a National Historic Landmark in 1985.

Read more about the Hoover Dam on Wikipedia.

You can find plenty of videos on the dam, and I like this vintage one if you have the time ! It is long, but very worth it !

Here is a photo of the Hoover Dam:

The maze: I return to a landscape maze again. Mazes of the Week #1 Horseshoe Bend and #2 Monument Valley are nearby locations that got the same landscape maze treatment. It is not a difficult maze, but it is best solved printed. I went with a single color for the earth portion of the maze. If I was to revise it I would change that and add more color variations.

Maze of the Week #37 - New London Ledge Lighthouse Maze

For maze of the week #37 I bring you a lighthouse maze. It was originally maze #22, but I switched it last minute because of a holiday. Although it looks more like a house than a lighthouse, I assure you that if you go to New London Harbor, Connecticut, in Groton you will find the New London Ledge Lighthouse. As far as the maze, it is a standard construction. Initially this was only done in black and white but I later added a color version so I would like your feedback on which version you prefer !

Some information about New London Ledge Lighthouse

Is it haunted? Maybe, and by a guy named Ernie. Built in 1909, this lighthouse features a 58 foot tall tower. Was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 29th, 1990. If you are in the area you are able to visit the lighthouse ! Or if you want a quick tour, checkout the video below !

The mazes:

The original version. Black and white. I did reformat it so there was less white space on the page. It presents better on the site.

And I got motivated to create a full color version. I like how it came out. Yes I did include the rust stains !! Here is the result ! Which do you prefer ? This is currently formatted for a standard 8.5 x 11 full page. But ideally I would format it smaller.

Maze of the Week #36 - Key West Southernmost Point Buoy Maze

My maze of the week #36 features the Southernmost Point Buoy in Key West, Florida. If you ever visit Key West this is a must visit photo opportunity. Also, what a great vacation. The large buoy is beautiful. I love the way it is painted and was excited to make it into a maze. It is featured this week because the current buoy was dedicated on September 10, 1983, replacing a wooden sign.

If you want to learn more about the point, check the Wikipedia page out, or watch this video:

Let’s go with a photo before we get to the maze:

The maze: I really enjoyed making this. I went with grey walls so I could use one consistent color against all different color backgrounds.
