Word Play Mazes - The Autological Maze Collection

I have always liked word play games. I have also always liked making mazes. SO I ended up combining the two for a Maze Collection on the website. Honestly, the maze portion of the word play is secondary to the word play. But still we have a nice section of mazes that I enjoyed making. Lots of Autological interpretations of words. So a word that looks like what it is (plus a maze). I have over 100 on the site in the maze collection, so let’s just look at a few of my favorites !!!

My Top 10 Autological Word Mazes

I really like this Balloons Maze which looks like a collection of multi-colored balloons. It is actually 8 different individual letter mazes.

And I had fun making this Broken Maze. At first I had trouble with the E and the N, but once I figured it out I really like how this came out !

And this Crowded Maze probably was inspired while I was riding the subway one morning on the way to work. It feels crowded to me.

This Disappear Maze is not so easy to solve because each letter does indeed disappear. This maze also has a close relative called the Fade Maze you can find on the site.

I liked making this Melt Maze. I even did a bit extra and melted the arrows ! This maze also has a close relative on the site, the Mud Maze.

I think this maze gets the most downloads in the word maze section on the site. Skewed letters help give the Mountain Maze shape, and everyone likes the mountain climbers working their way to the peak !

Mountain Autological Maze — Mountain Maze

I had fun with this Rocket Maze, rotating the “T” to make a nice rocket nose and using a uppercase R for the base.

Possibly my favorite Autological Maze is this Shadow Maze which gets a bit of help from the Sun.

Like the Broken Maze above, I had a bit of trouble making the Split Maze, but eventually figured it out. It is the only maze on the site with 1 start and 2 possible goals…I think…

And why not end with this Unfinished Maze which is appropriately unfinished (but still solvable) !

Snack and Dessert Mazes - A Maze Collection for Sweet Tooths

I am hungry right now. Hungry for something sweet and delicious. A really good muffin would be outstanding. As I have mentioned before when I make my daily mazes I have ended up making a lot of different food mazes as a result. Previously I pulled together a collection of my Favorite Fruit and Vegetable Mazes. And as I was doing that I realized I have made a lot of Snack Mazes and Dessert Mazes. (Fun Fact - I have also made 2 Desert Mazes, one of a sand castle and one of a bucket on the beach.) Let’s have a look at some of the best.

My Top 16 Favorite Snack and Dessert Mazes

I have made a few different muffin and cupcake mazes. A Chocolate Cupcake Maze with a nice gradient cup, with sprinkles on top. A Blueberry Muffin Maze with nice chunks of blueberry to bite into. Seems like the cup on that looks a bit familiar…

And you can’t talk about dessert without talking about Ice Cream ! I have done a few different Ice Cream Mazes. Here is a Vanilla Ice Cream Cone Maze, a Strawberry Ice Cream Cone Maze and a Banana Split Maze. I like the mixed maze designs I used for the cones vs. the Ice Cream.

You know what I go nuts for ? Donuts. Two different perspectives and flavors are found in these Doughnut Mazes, or Donut Mazes. A Glazed Sprinkled or a Jelly Filled.

When I was growing up I liked 2 kinds of pie, pumpkin and lemon meringue. The fun thing about making Pie and Cake Mazes is you can use Axonometric grids to get a really fun look. I also like the Lemon Meringue Pie Maze meringue details. While the Cherry Pie Maze is bursting with awkwardly shaped bright red cherries.

Sometimes an object can be very mazeable just because of its shape. That’s how I feel about this Chocolate Bar Maze. The sections make for great passageways

Sometimes dessert comes with a fortune, a fun saying, some lottery numbers, or a piece of wisdom. Like this Fortune Cookie Maze.

If you have choice do you want your vanilla covered in chocolate from a sandwich or a bar ? The Ice Cream Sandwich Maze and the Ice Cream Bar Maze give you a choice.

Animal Mazes - A look at various wild and exotic Animal Mazes

Previously I showed you a collection of some Barnyard Animal mazes. Lots of fun animals you would find on a farm and also designed to be solved by children. Today I take you through the other animals that are more commonly found in the wild. Animal Mazes are some of my most popular and always get a lot of downloads. Some are realistic pictures while others are cartoonish so you’ll see a variety of maze styles . Let’s take a look !

18 Interesting Exotic Animal Mazes:

We start off in the ocean with this Walrus Maze. I really like the whiskers on the face of this guy.

Our next maze, the Quail maze highlights the wonderful feathers of the quail ( as best I could make them).

We go from the ocean to the sky to the ground with this Iguana Maze. Unlike other mazes this was made using a free drawn construction.

And then there is this Newt Maze, also free drawn and perfect for kids.

And now one of my former daily mazes that won some voting contests, The Bald Eagle Maze. This is definitely not for kids. The construction method is a mix of vertical and horizontal styles.

Another daily maze that became a winner as Maze of the month, the Hippopotamus Maze (Thank you spell check). This Hippo was made using a standard Equal construction method.

I really like this Penguin Maze. It is one of the few mazes that only uses an internal section to create the maze surface, using this penguins nice white belly !

A Bird Maze that has a bit of a cartoon look and is a bit more challenging for most kids.

We return to the plains of Africa for this Rhinoceros Maze. I don’t know about you, but I would not want to make this guy mad !

And we can’t forget the real big guy, the beautiful elephant ! Here is an Elephant Maze for you to enjoy !

Let’s return closer to home and an animal that I see all the time where I live. Here we have the Rabbit Maze. Also a nice maze for Easter.

There are some animals I have never seen but I would like to, like a Lemur. Enjoy this Lemur Maze.

How about we go back to the water for this cartoon Octopus Maze

Never get between a racoon and it’s food. Instead try this Raccoon Maze !

Aaaannnnnddddd aaaa sssslllllloooottttthhhh mmmmaaaaazzzzeeee. Or a sloth maze when said at regular speed !

And we of course have a Monkey Maze. I don’t remember what kind of monkey this is…

This one has a bit of a different look than most of my mazes with a background to better show the jumping dolphin. Dolphin Maze

But the maze we end with has to be the Vulture Maze. A bird you do not want to see, especially if it seems to be following you !!!

Animal Mazes - A Look at Barnyard Animal Mazes

Some of my most popular mazes are the mazes I have made of animals. A few of them were voted maze of the month at various times and then made the maze of the year voting. If you are going to solve a maze why not solve a maze that is fun to look at and can be enjoyed as a picture when you are not solving it ! Today I will take you through a collection of my Barnyard Animal Mazes. Some are realistic pictures while others are cartoonish so you’ll see a variety of maze styles . Let’s take a look !

We start off with a kids version of a Chicken Maze.

And the next barnyard maze is the Rooster Maze. Big fan of the tail feathers.

And they are probably friends with this smiling Pig which looks kind of skinny (is it a piglet ?). You know this pig is looking to root around in some mud and get some food. And they have a wonderful tail. Pig Maze !
