Maze of the Week #24 - Emo's Dairy Mart Shop Sign Maze

Maze #24 keeps us in Illinois with a maze of a great sign from a local ice cream shop. This is a great week for some ice cream, and if you are in Peoria, Illinois you probably stop by Emo’s Dairy Mart Shop. The maze a free drawn construction. I really like the look of this old time looking sign that sits on top of the building,

Some information about Emo’s Dairy Mart Shop

I found a blog post that includes some great pictures of the spot. According to this story the clown sign went up in 1963 to grab customers attention. The clown also seems to be a marker for travelers who need directions !

The maze: I made the maze in a free drawn construction so that the walls of the maze matched the unique shape of the clown outfit.

Maze of the Week #23 - Wrigley Field Sign Maze

Many of the mazes I have featured this year have showcased signs and buildings that most people probably weren’t that familiar with. But this week, for my 23rd maze I am featuring a maze of the iconic Wrigley Field Sign. The maze is a standard construction and was done in full color. There is only 1 version.

Some information about Wrigley Field

It is not surprising that Wrigley Field is a US National Historic Landmark, but it is surprising that it was only added in September of 2020. Since opening in 1914 it has primarily been the home of the Chicago Cubs baseball team, however it has housed 3 different NFL teams since it’s opening…the Bears…and well you’ll need to guess the other 2 ! Here is a video I found about the Wrigley Field sign:

Maze of the Week #22 - Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch Maze

This week I am featuring a maze of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch located in Hartford, Connecticut to celebrate Memorial Day in the US. It becomes maze of the week #22 after a last minute switch with a lighthouse maze (now maze #37). There are many memorials (over 20) named this, or similar around the United States. This particular memorial celebrates those Hartford citizens that served in the US Civil War. The Memorial Arch was dedicated on September 17, 1886 and was designed by a local architect named George Keller.

If you want to learn more about the memorial arch, read the Wikipedia page , or just check out this video:

The maze: Finished? You decide. I can’t seem to find a clear picture of the battle scene that is banded above the arch. I attempted a few versions with it and none came out to my standards. I may add it in the future (and change the maze) if I find a good picture to work off of. I went with black and white. The brocks make for a good gridded maze construction.

Maze of the Week #21 - Dolles Salt Water Taffy Sign Maze

This is a great week to go to the beach. This week I bring you maze #21 from Delaware with this Dolles Salt Water Taffy Sign Maze. This particular maze is a free drawn construction. If you have been to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware you have seen this sign !

Some information about Dolles Candyland

Was located at the corner of Rehoboth Avenue and the Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware since 1927, one year after it was established, but was moved in December of 2021. You can read about the history of the company on the Dolles website. Visiting the website will definitely make you hungry. Salt water taffy happens to be the most popular product.

In December of 2021 the sign MOVED as shown in this video from the local news.
